Athletes need to complete the concussion education, physical and register before tryouts begin.

- Cross Country (CC) athletes selected for CC Regional and/or State Championships are exempt from tryouts
- Potential sprinters should tryout in the 100m, 200m and 400m
- Potential distance runners should tryout in the 800m, 1600m and 400m
- Potential jumpers need to tryout in the jumps, 100m and the 200m
- Potential throwers need to tryout the shot put and the 100m
Coaches will look at all aspects of the tryout phase to determine a final roster. This will include, but not be limited to the following: attendance, results, attitude, work ethic and leadership ability. Due to limited entries set by FCPS and Meet Directors, athletes are not guaranteed a chance to compete at all or any meets. Coaches will do their best to get as many athletes entered as possible. Athletes with too many excused/unexcused practices in a week of a competition will not compete.
OPTIONAL:
Monday, November 11th: 10:00am-12:00pm - track
- Optional practice, mainly for new athletes, particular field events
- Try any event(s) or ask questions about tryouts or being on the team
- Last chance to turn in paperwork and to complete registration online
- Last chance to inform Coach Zuber you are trying out for a different Woodson winter sport and might have a conflict with Track & Field tryouts

Wednesday, November 13th: 3:30pm - track
- Long jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault
- Shot Put
Thursday, November 14th: 3:30pm - track
- 800 meter run
- 200m dash
- 55 meter hurdles
Friday, November 15th: 3:00pm
- Final Cuts - Place TBA
- Athletes who made the team will have 1st day of practice. Bring athletic clothes
Saturday, November 16th:
- Off

Conflict(s)
- Athletes trying out for another Woodson sport(s) need to contact coach Zuber at kazuber@fcps.edu beforehand
- Athletes busy with other activities should carefully consider their time commitments before tryouts
- Athletes participating in Chorus, Orchestra or Band need to communicate with Coach Zuber beforehand
- If selected, athletes need to address any conflicts at the beginning of the season before competition starts
